Skincare Tools: A beginners guide 2019

Writer: plantbasedinjectorplantbasedinjector

"We all need a little help every now and then"

With all the gimmicks, pretty packaging, and flashy lights how are you supposed to know the real deal skin care tools?!

This list is comprised of tools that are proven to enhance your skin care products. They are tried and true and over the years have changed the skincare game!

I also included some products that just make your life wayy easier when it comes to skin care.

Obviously, the stakes are high when it comes to your face! The jury is still out on some popular at home technology (that may include lights.. wink, wink) and I'm not yet convinced. Some treatments should simply be left to the professionals! I was extremely careful to not include devices that still need more testing in order to say if it's even worth the money to splurge and use at home. I got your back!

Happy shopping <3

xoxo,

Chelsea

Makeup wipes: Keep the ingredient list simple! The honest brand is my fave because of how clean the ingredients are, they're non irritating, and the price is the best compared to others!

Silicone cleansing pad: These do NOT take the place of a wash cloth! Think of these pads as an extension of your fingers tips to just really work your cleanser into your pores! I prefer these over the sonic brush heads for sanitary reasons. (They're also a lot less expensive) After cleansing use your clean wash cloth and rinse as normal.

Blackhead remover: GAME CHANGER for the pimple popping addicts! No more dirty fingers nails breaking your skin and causing infections. My fave is the angled flat side to really get into the blackheads on the nose. Use 70% isopropyl alcohol before, several times during, and after use to keep your tool clean and to not spread bacteria (which causes even more acne!)

Clay mask brush: TRUST ME theres a big difference between a natural fan brush and this silicone brush that is designed to evenly distribute clay masks over your skin. It creates this perfect even, complete, non streaky layer of mask to cover every pore and draw out every impurity!

Chemical peel brush & bowl: The bowl in this set is so cute! It's a great size for all masks and other skincare concoctions. The brush grabs the chemical peel solution perfectly and is easily cleaned with 70% isopropyl alcohol. Just make sure to let it air dry.

Exfoliating mitt: Game changer in the shower! Pair it with my fave exfoliating body wash listed in my post, "The Bump" and your body will feel like butter.

Self tanning mitt: OBVIOUSLY you care about your skin's health so OBVIOUSLY you're not spending hours baking in the sun so OBVIOUSLY you use a self tanner. You need a microfiber mitt for even application, right!? ; )

Sonic face stimulator: The first time I used this was when I was observing an injector. She put this on one side of the face to distract the nerve while injecting. I tried it and it felt like when you're getting a facial and they tap all over your face to stimulate blood flow and bring nutrients to your cells! At night apply your serums, oils, and moisturizer and gently glide this in an outward motion all over your face and down your neck. You feel so invigorated! (not recommended for acne prone skin types due to amount of stimulation).

Rose quartz Gua Sha: AMAZING to depuff in the morning and drain your lymphatic system! Apply your serums, oils, and moisturizer and gently glide this in an outward motion all over your face and down your neck. It's a deeper massage so go gently. Only to be used for a few mins for a maximum amount of once per day. Sometimes the intense massage can be over stimulating to acne prone skin types.

Jade roller: MY PERSONAL FAVORITE because its perfect for all skin types, gentle, effective, and I love keeping it cold! Keep it in the fridge and use it in the morning for a chilled refresher to depuff and drain your lymphatic system! Apply your serums, oils, and moisturizer and gently glide this in an outward motion all over your face and down your neck.

Reusable eye gels: USE COLD! Keep them in the fridge it's amazing. The "reusable" part is off label LOL however if applied onto freshly cleansed skin with freshly washed hands you can put them back into their container, back into the fridge, and use them for 3-5 days THEN TOSS. My preferred method is to use them in the morning or before getting ready for an event.

Electric facial trimmer: The tool that introduced me to shaving 6 years ago. The safest for the face shaving newbie!

Single blade facial razor: A very popular item and it does work! I keep them as a back up in my makeup bag if i ever need a touch up. Max use is 2-3 times and make sure you use 70% isopropyl alcohol before and after.

Full body razor: Admittedly I follow in my father's footsteps and shave my face with a Gillette razor. I CANT HELP IT. Your face feels like a baby's butt after using these I swear! Obviously keep one blade separate just for your face and as always 70% isopropyl alcohol before and after each use!

8oz glass bottles-pump: I love to keep my oil mixtures for my body in these! I personally use the 2 oils from my post "The Bump"

2oz glass bottles-dropper: Great for facial oils because the dropper allows you to control a smaller amount of oil! The oils from my post "The Bump" are great for your face as well.

TSA skin care set: It's so difficult finding an amazing travel set for your skincare that won't leak! This set is incredible!

Small oil funnel: To make your life A LOTTT easier.
